More than just data processing
At Robotron, we are not only passionate about big data and IT. Not only do we support our employees with a wide range of sporting activities in our own sports club SV Robotron e.V., but we also attach great importance to promoting young talent in competitive and club sport. Robotron also supports cultural initiatives in the region and the promotion of young IT talent.
Winter Sports in Saxony
Justus Strelow
We have had Justus Strelow under contract since the 2017/2018 season. The biathlete has been active at SG Stahl Schmiedeberg e.V. for many years and is now a real top performer in the professional ranks. Justus shone with a strong performance at the 2024 Biathlon World Championships in Nove Mesto. His greatest successes so far include:
- 3rd place - Junior World Championships 2017 in Brezno-Osrbli
- 1st place overall in the German Men's Cup (2017/18 season)
- European Championship title in the single mixed relay (2021 season)
- 2nd place in the singles at the World Cup in Östersund (2023)
- 4th place in the men's relay at the World Championships in Nove Mesto (2024)
- 1st place in the single-mixed relay at the World Cup in Antholz (2024)
Nina Lange
Nina Lange from SG Stahl Schmiedeberg e.V. has been sponsored by Robotron since 2021. The young biathlete made her international debut in the 2023/2024 season and proved her talent in a strong field at the German Junior Championships in Oberhof! Biggest success so far:
- P27 in the sprint in the IBU Junior Cup
School Week on Skis
Out of the stuffy gym and onto the slopes! This or something similar is the motto of the "school sports on skis" campaign, which started as an accompanying programme around the cross-country skiing World Cup on the banks of the Elbe. Every year, up to 600 children of primary school age from Dresden and the surrounding area now have the opportunity to receive a day of cross-country skiing lessons from Olympic medallist Tobias Angerer and a team of experienced ski instructors and volunteers. The whole event is, of course, free of charge for the children. To make sure it stays that way, Robotron is supporting the programme as a sponsor.
Biathlon Support Association
Robotron has been one of the main supporters of the association "Förderverein Biathlon Osterzgebirge e.V." for many years and thus promotes the Altenberg ski region in a variety of ways. The support association has set itself the task of promoting the development and advancement of competitive sports at the Altenberg Olympic Training Centre, as well as improving the conditions for Nordic skiing in the Eastern Ore Mountains. In order to demonstrate the successful realisation of these plans, the support association organizes the "Biathlon Sponsors' Cup" every year. Several teams of Robotron employees take part each year and have often stood on the winners' podium.
Sports Clubs and Events
SV Robotron e.V.
The sports club Robotron Dresden e.V. is (not only) very popular with our employees. With its orienteering and cross-country skiing departments as well as leisure and recreational sports, it offers a wide range of activities for everyone. In orienteering, multiple German champion Tilo Pompe competes for SV Robotron. In ski orienteering, Bernd Kohlschmidt and Anne Heinemann have already won the title of "German Champion".
Basketball Club Dresden e.V.
Basketball with tradition: The beginnings of the Basketball Club Dresden e.V. date back to the 1970s. With almost 330 members, the basketball players from Dresden Neustadt are one of the clubs with the most members in the whole of Saxony. A major focus is the promotion of young talent, for example the Basketball Club Dresden is part of the "BasKIDball" campaign. We are delighted to be supporting the U16 team with new jerseys and are keeping our fingers crossed that this season will be a success!
Cycling
We have been supporting the city cycling campaign for several years by taking part with a Robotron team. Not only sustainability, but also team spirit are at the forefront here in a wonderful combination. Extra kilometers are furthermore collected during the annual Robotron bike tour, which is organized by our colleagues in parallel to the city cycling campaign. In addition, individual colleagues regularly compete for SV Robotron e. V. in competitions such as the Erzgebirgs Bike Marathon, the Malevil Cup or Liège-Bastogne-Liège (everyone) - powered by Robotron, of course!
Pfeffermond Company Cup in Table Tennis
Our colleagues prove their speed, precision and a loose wrist every year at the company table tennis cup. Our teams have been competing since 2017: of course, the focus is always on having fun, but we still celebrate every point scored at the table tennis table!
REWE TeamChallenge
Our enthusiastic runners impressively demonstrate that Robotron is a really sporty company at the REWE TeamChallenge Dresden! In 2024, a total of 76 colleagues took part - wearing their own company running shirts, of course. We are always happy to receive active support, both on and off the course! Promoting Young IT Talents & Communities
Student Computer Center "SRZ"
Robotron is a long-standing member of the "Förderverein des Schülerrechenzentrums Dresden e.V.". The student computer center of the TUD Dresden University of Technology (SRZ) is a centre for the promotion of gifted students in the fields of computer science and electronics. With our commitment, we support the promotion of young talent in the field of computer science. The SRZ builds bridges between students and companies in the software industry by organizing annual company projects. In these projects, small groups of students work on tasks set by the companies over a period of six months.
Robotron has already supervised a number of such company projects, including smart home solutions for our company buildings and in-house navigation in our buildings.
Dresden Database Forum
As a database specialist, it is only a fitting decision for us to sponsor the Dresden Database Forum at the Dresden University of Applied Sciences. The lecture series has been informing and connecting scientists and users from the fields of database and information system technology, data engineering and data science for several years. The focus is on the exchange of information in a Saxon interdisciplinary network. In addition to providing financial support, our experts are also involved as speakers at the regular events.
APEX Meetup Dresden
Since 2022 APEX Meetups have been held at our Dresden headquarters. Robotron provides rooms and catering for participants from all over Saxony. In addition, some colleagues have already shared their knowledge at the APEX Meetup Dresden in the form of presentations. Participation in the meetups is free of charge - if you would like to join us, you are cordially invited to follow us on the Meetup platform!
German Oracle User Group (DOAG)
Robotron has been supporting the German Oracle User Group (DOAG) for many years as the only organisation representing the interests of users of Oracle products. Its goals are the exchange of information and the transfer of knowledge about the use, handling and experience with Oracle products as well as the representation of user interests towards the manufacturer. Our colleagues are primarily involved in the DOAG communities "Infrastructure and Middleware" and "Security". In addition, DOAG regional meetings for Dresden/Saxony are held regularly at our Dresden headquarters.
Faculty Parties TUD and HTW DD
Promoting young talent does not always have to be serious. In recent years, Robotron has supported both the faculty parties of Computer Science and Mathematics at HTW Dresden and OUTPUT.DD, where the results of teaching and research by students and staff are presented to the general public. This support came in the form of the Robotron beer truck, in which even our managing director personally tapped a cool drink or two (including non-alcoholic ones).
German Scholarship
With the scholarship "Deutschlandstipendium", the German government and private sponsors, including Robotron, support students with very good grades. In this way, we are helping to ensure that talented young people can concentrate on their studies with as little disruption as possible and realize their full potential.
